Referring professionals include M.D.s in general practice, sports medicine physicians, orthopedic physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, fitness trainers, sports coaches, and other professional massage therapists.
Primary Practice Objectives:
One goal is to educate the client about their condition and treatment plan. With this knowledge they know what is happening in their body, understand the treatment program, gain knowledge of the work, and we build trust essential for the bodywork to be effective;
It is imperative that we facilitate healing by working WITH the client, not just ON the client. Client participation includes constant feedback during the work, along with active movement to aid techniques;
We document treatments and client progress with a confidential record (SOAP notes). This chart is used for conferring with the referrring physician, for practice reference and evaluation of the treatment plan, and so the client can see their progress;
Teaching the client body awareness of movement patterns and postural positioning is a foundation of our practice, which is used to assist in recovery and to help prevent recurrance of the condition;
Assessment is another foundation of our work, and we use posture assessment, specific palpatory skills, orthopedic tests, and specialized soft tissue techniques to accomplish this;
Communicating with the referring physician helps us provide the best possible complementary care possible.
